"What is the purpose of The Journey capital campaign?"

Evangel Temple focuses on helping individuals and families grow deeper in their relationships with Christ and with each other. To do that, we need to make room for the growing number of people we are welcoming to our church. This capital campaign will help us create the room we need by increasing a variety of ministry areas, including our educational and fellowship areas.

Why are we building now?

We believe this growth is an opportunity to fulfill the purpose and mission God has given our church. Without expanding our facilities we are unable to accommodate this growth.

What is the total project budget? Will we incur new debt?

The total cost for the project will be about $5.2 million. Depending on the amount of capital raised through this campaign, this project could include $2.6 million of new debt service.

What is the timeline for construction and remodeling?

Current groundbreaking plans are for late fall 2007/early winter 2008. Construction will take approximately 12 months. Remodeling in the foyer and nursery area will begin when the new building is complete.

Does the project include a youth area?

Our needs assessment committee reviewed our church’s space needs and concluded that the teens’ current facilities provide room for them to grow in the near future. Their space needs will continue to be reassessed as they grow.

How does The Journey campaign affect my normal tithes, missions giving, and other offerings?

Our normal operating expenses and missions commitments will continue to be met by your faithful tithes and offerings. The commitment you make to The Journey campaign is "over-and-above" giving that will allow us to accomplish our building goals.

Will people new to Evangel Temple be able to join The Journey?

Absolutely! Everyone will be given the opportunity to participate.

When will we be asked to make our commitment?

We would ask you to prayerfully consider how God would have you participate in this campaign. On Sunday, October 28th, we will have a Commitment Service where everyone will have an opportunity to respond to how they feel God is directing them. The leadership of the church will be asked to make commitments prior to this service.

What is the length of time I will need to commit to giving?

The campaign will last for 36 months, and commitments will be given during that time.

When is my first opportunity to give?

The first opportunity to give will be during our morning service, Sunday, November 11th. This will be an exciting opportunity for the church to begin our journey with a dramatic step forward. It will also be a chance for us to exercise our faith and immediately begin acting on our 36-month commitments. Our goal is to receive 5-7% of the total amount committed on this day.

Will my commitment be made public?

No. Your commitment is between you and God.

Can I change my commitment, if needed?

Yes. You may either increase or decrease your faith commitment at any time as the Lord leads, or as circumstances make it necessary.

Can my gift involve stocks or other assets as well as cash?

Yes. Assets such as appreciated property, stocks and other non-cash items can benefit the church and may provide a positive tax benefit to you as well. Please contact the church or your personal financial advisor for more information.
